I grew up with Sierra and King's Quest, so I have always been a fan. It's definitely engaging, however it is sort of difficult to progress through the game without a walk-through tutorial, it's not the most intuitive game to be able to figure out on the whim. However look online and find walk-through tutorials (they're everywhere) and you'll have a blast with the game. The early versions of the game such as 1-4 have typing commands, instead of the point-and-click, but it helps to start kids off typing. I know it definitely helped me learn to type faster and more often when I was a kid playing this game. But the newer editions of the game 5-7 are all point and click with a mouse, and that's fun too, but not as rewarding in my opinion to point and click the entire time through a game. But that's how the evolution of gaming has turned. But definitely good clean fun, but definitely a looong game! So it's engaging for the kid to continuously try to master through levels of the game.

Each double page spread includes a beautiful Wendell Minor paintings. The book is really a poem that is told to you as if the mountains are speaking to you about the aspects of its life. In this book, nature has a voice.

Of all the Sierra City building games, Pharaoh has all the elements of a true city building game. Make you think, but watching the city grow is enjoyable.

Female trio Sierra is another unfortunately forgotten Christian music act. Their Pop by way of Folk with impeccably blended harmonies is beautiful to listen to. And their lyrics were wonderful as well. This is their debut, and it remains my favorite from the group.

The biggest hits from the disc included the title track, "When I Let it Go" and "No Stone to Throw." And in those three songs, we've got a challenge to reach higher in our life with God, a song of surrender, and a challenge about judging others. Pretty powerful stuff right there.

I've always been a fan of "This is Religion." Taken directly from James 1, it reminds us that we need to live out our faith with our actions toward those in need. And I can no longer read that chapter without the song playing in my head.

The disc closes with a cover of Leslie Phillips' "By My Spirit." The song is a slow, quiet closer with absolutely beautiful harmonies. And the reminder that God is the one who accomplishes anything in our lives is great.

The tempos range from mid-tempo to slow. In fact, those slow songs are a tad too slow and long for repeated listens. This is not something that you'll rock out to. But if you want beautiful music with encouraging lyrics, track down this CD.

The Sierra High Route: Traversing Timberline Country

My girlfriend and I now refer to this book as 'Stevie' after spending a month thru-hiking the SHR with it this fall. I'm not sure that Mr Roper would approve of having his name taken in vain, but we sure took a liking to his style and found that his words of wisdom quickly became our loyal companion.

Like others before us (and it broke my heart to do it) we cut out the actual guide section of the book to keep weight down, and I highlighted all route-finding information to make it stand out from the amazingly informative and, at times, highly entertaining, descriptive detail. Used in conjunction with Andrew Skurka's excellent accompanying map set (available via web) we had very few route-finding problems, although we were blessed with exceptionally good weather and zero snow cover. It appears that the guidebook maybe too good, as we found that use trails had become pretty well established over large portions of the route, possibly to the dismay of Roper and cross-country purists.

If you are planning to thru-hike the SHR, you need this book. It is not an easy trek (much more rugged than the JMT) and there is no other hard-copy guide. The book's also worth buying if you are craving a shorter High Sierra trip, as some great options are described for incorporating sections of the route into loops with access points on both sides of the range.

The author's advice is priceless for safe cross-country travel through some of the world's most spectacular mountainous scenery. May Stevie become your friend too - but tread lightly so that it remains as rewarding a challenge for future Sierra lovers as it was for us.

I am a big fan of the original adventure genre so this (plus Space Quest, Leisure Suit larry & Kings quest) are a definite must if you love to just play point & click adventure games.

Sierra (on-line) are the founders of the original adventure genre and with this and the other collections you will have hours of fun. Classic gaming at it's best.

I am truly amazed at the high reviews for Connie Mason's works. I tried reading 2 of her novels (this one and A TOUCH SO WICKED). Her writing is so bad I don't know where to begin. Her characters are cardboard cutouts, having absolutely no depth. Her love scenes are so alike that I really think she must have written one love scene and cut and pasted it to several other areas in this novel and others, only changing the names.
